Now, earthmen can take an advantage of a new service: Google, basing on the history of users queries, promises target advertising on its page, reports Le Temps. This is “one more tentacle of octopus named Google”, the defenders of individual freedoms assert. The company is broadening the coverage area, and this directly affects us, the reporter Anush Seydtagiya believes. So, on 31 January as a result of full disconnection of the search engine for 58 minutes the global traffic decreased by an average of 21,3%: it`s occurred that when Google don`t work, some internet users just turn off the computers, as it don`t come to their mind to use Yahoo! or Microsoft. Omnipresent, efficient, and craving for hegemony Google is rapidly developing. Larry Page and Sergey Brin started to organize the world's information system; they work on “smart” search engine: according to Page, “the perfect search engine would be able to know exactly what a user thinks”. The company is encreasing its activities on the storage and searching the information, and that “necrosadism” is alarming. According to professor Greg Lastovka from Columbia Law School, “the possibility of organizing the information is very close to the ability of controlling the information”. Here to the products director of Google Juergen Haller announce that, perhaps, the mass media consider the issue of search and data confidentiality in Google as the problem source, but users don`t care about it. More over, the question arises, on what criteria the first 10 search results are selected: all attempts to learn what algorithms Google is using, have always proved to be unsuccessful - the company refuses to make public its most precious secret. The desire of the company to store information also causes alarm: last week, Google admitted that by mistake it has provided to users the access to the part of the documents spread out in the Internet by other users.
