Intel continues to lead on the market of the microprocessors

Corporation Intel continues to retain the leading position on the market of microprocessors. For the comparison, company AMD, which occupies the second position, retains 12 percent of market (3,8 billion dollars). According to the data of Gartner, in the past year the total volume of the market for semiconductor production was 235 billion US dollars, which is 5,7 percent higher than in 2004. During the past year it was observed an increase in the demand for the microcircuits of memory DRAM (Dynamic RAM) and SRAM (Static RAM), and also the chips of fl3w- memory NAND, which is widely adapted in different portable devices, in particular, mutimedia players and digital cameras. By the way, last year the volume of the market for memory NAND increased by 71 percent - to 12 billion US dollars. Furthermore, it was noted increase on the markets for KMOP- matrices for the digital cameras and the specialized integrated circuits for digital audioplayers and cell phones. The market for semiconductor production is developed at most rapid tempo in the Asian- Pacific Ocean region (including China, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore), where in the past year increase was about 11 percent. For region EMEA (Europe, the Near East Africa) this index is equal to 4 percent. In the United States and Japan the market for semiconductor production grew by one percent and 0.2 percent, respectively. It is necessary to note that recently company AMD promulgated the results of its activity in the first quarter of the present year. The general gain of company within the accounting period reached 1,33 billion dollars, clear profit - 185 million dollars or 0,38 dollars per share.
