Limiting Google Maps features
13th April 2009
The service of Google Maps offers broad features for anyone willing. This fact irritates authorities, who understand that there are secrets to be kept. California congressmen have proposed a bill AB-255, according to which Google Maps must blur images of certain areas so that they can not be thoroughly examined by users. Such objects include schools, churches, hospitals and government buildings.
The reason of the bill is terrorism: for example terrorists had used the service to plan an attack to the Indian town of Mumbai. Authorities of many countries have been complaining about such details for a long time, so, it will be no surprise if the bill is accepted.
