Microsoft presents latest development for creation and distribution of multimedia

At the conference NAB2007 which is taking place this week, Microsoft has presented a number of fundamental technologies that will make easier the development and distribution of high-quality multimedia information content through the Internet, reports http://www.prdomain.com. Innovative technology Microsoft Silverlight, supported by the most popular browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari) and platforms (including Macintosh and Windows), is designed for distribution of video-content and RIA-applications via the Internet. Silverlight will allow manufactures to deliver the multimedia content at the lowest cost. Loadable client module has compact size and can be used for reproducing published on sites multimedia materials and video clips in the new format. Among the first followers of the new platform are the companies: Akamai Technologies Inc. , Brightcove Inc. , Eyeblaster Inc. , Limelight Networks, Major League Baseball, NaviSite Inc. , Netflix Inc. , Skinkers, Sonic Solutions, Tarari Inc. , Telestream Inc and Winnov. Another novelty is the tool Microsoft VC-1 Encoder SDK, which provides high-performance video coding tools and new mechanisms for optimizing multimedia materials for there further distribution through various channels. The package is closely integrated with the majority of the latest Microsoft technologies, so that developers will be able to expand the functionality of their applications without significant modifications. Besides, Microsoft completed an agreement with Sonic Solutions, according to which the encoding technology VC-1 (PEP Encoder) will be used in manufacturing of commercial HD-video production. Microsoft also introduced to the visitors of the conference the server solution Interactive Media Manager, which covers all phases of the life cycle of multimedia content: from the development to distribution and the following management. The product is the completion for the platform Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, designed especially for manufacturing agency of multimedia content.
