Microsoft will sell Windows and Office for three dollars

Microsoft Corporation promised to reduce the prices on software significantly for developing countries. Within the bounds of Microsoft Unlimited Potential campaign the corporation is expected to begin selling of a specialized set of programs Student Innovation Suite. The kit will include OS Windows XP Starter Edition, office package Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007, and also applications Microsoft Math 3.0, Learning Essentials 2.0 for Microsoft Office and Windows Live Mail. The cost of Student Innovation Suite will be only three dollars. But not all developing regions will be able to buy Student Innovation Suite. Microsoft intends to supply the kit only to those countries where the government provides students with free computers. At that, Microsoft`s Vice President Orlando Ayala stressed that the action of Corporation on the distribution of cheap software is not a charity. According to Ayala, in many countries pirated copies of Microsoft products are cost almost nothing. By releasing for such regions inexpensive software, Microsoft hopes to reduce the piracy level. Microsoft Corporation also reported that the appearance of the new set of programs Student Innovation Suite should help in the realization of the campaign in doubling the number of users of personal computers by 2015. Now, there are around the world about one billion PC owners. The supply of Microsoft Student Innovation Suite is expected to begin in the second half of this year.
