Mininova and other torrent-trackers hunted by BREIN
13th April 2009
Administrators of Mininova, one of the largest torrent-trackers in the world, will be put on trial on May, 20, 2009, reports TorrentFreak. Mininova is located in the Netherlands. A local anti-piracy organization, called BREIN filed an action against the tracker. BREIN wants to force the tracker to filter search results and delete every .torrent-file, which may refer to some illegal content.
Generally, BREIN is famous (or infamous?) for its hostility to torrent portals. During the winter, for instance, they closed down 94 torrent trackers, belonging to a 45-year-old resident of the Netherlands. In addition, BREIN previously tried to accuse torrent-trackers of Economic Crime, but failed.
