The analysis shows that among 350 interrogated American specialists in IT-sphere about 69% of people downloaded on their mobile and desktop computers software and music without carrying the proper licensing agreements and not paying for content a penny. Moreover, most of them shared the downloaded information with friends. And 70% of those who illegally downloaded the content said that they did it consciously, and 30% said that this was done “accidentally”. “Historically it has formed that the models allowing implementing the legal downloading and sharing the content, are difficult for use and therefore are not got used to users”, - says Simon Blake-Wilson, managing director on DRM of SafeNet Company. - Therefore, this has resulted in a significant increase in the number of illegal download and share of content”. According to data of SafeNet, only in 2005 the beat of sound-recording companies and film studios around the world amounted $ 22.6 billion, because of the infraction of licenses. Many content-providers invest money in the development and promotion of DRM. According to preliminary estimates, the accounts on this technology by the end of 2007 will amount $ 1 billion. “It is obvious that more and more companies are using such technologies, but these mechanisms are needed the standardization and severe modification. If DRM-solutions remain all “stiff” and poorly adaptable, then such model will fail and the companies will waste their money”, concluded Mr. Blake-Wilson. In conclusion, it is worth while noting that 29% of all respondents stated that they had never downloaded content illegally. 2% of the users have told that they have no idea whether they downloaded illegal software and music or not.
