MySQL is getting ready to IPO
29th April 2007
MySQL, a developer of the DBMS of the same name with an open source, is planning to realize initial primary offerings (IPO). The date and details of the plan announced by the executive director, Martin Mickos have not been determined yet. Over the past year, the company reported its income of $ 50 million, against $ 6.5 million in 2002 and $ 34 million in 2005. The minimum program of the company does not yet include profitability, said the head of MySQL at the exhibition MySQL Conference and Expo. According to him, the company does not burn money any more, and is not somewhere at the “zero point” for the balance of costs and profits. IPO, according to Mickos will make the company a more solid, conservative, “because customers want to deal with public companies”. However, it is not that simple to be a public company, he acknowledges.
