New AOL AIM now runs under Vista
1st April 2007
AOL has released a final version of AIM 6.1, a popular IM-client, in which they have finally added a full support for Windows Vista. Simultaneously, a release of new AOL Web Mail has been announced, which will be integrated with AIM. Thus, users will be able to talk directly in Web Mail interface. Certainly, the major innovation of AIM 6.1 was the support for Vista, which was the result of months of testing. Among the other options, it is worth while noticing the capability to send a message, or SMS to the user who is off-line. To know whether the user is online or not there is a function of AIM Buddy List, sorting the contacts by the accessibility of users at the moment. Having decided to take the example from Google and its Gmail service, AOL began to develop mail client with code name “Cayman” in its time. Though previously AOL Web Mail had some functions of AIM, soon we will be able to use AIM directly in the window of browser. At the same time the user will be able to choose whether to send a message through AIM or e-mail. Now Cayman is on the stage of testing, in the next few weeks we expect a first beta-version of the program.
