The first of the planned updates is planned to be released in the nearest future (about a few months).
The community representatives say that they are planning to complete work on the Symbian operating system 2, based on the platform S60 5.1, until the end of this year. In case everything goes smoothly, the first models based on the new OS may go on sale already in 2009. The next release of Symbian 3 is scheduled for mid-2010.
If Symbian follows their own schedule correctly, the developers will be able to get ahead of competitors on the frequency of updates.
