The Sims will have old-fashioned means of authentication

Rod Humble, developing the series of The Sims, said that the system of protection of The Sims 3 will not include any online authentication of the disk. Instead, it will be based on the necessity to fill in the old-fashioned and inefficient serial code.
Given the recent agitation about DRM, this news can be regarded as a perfect one. The developers believe that the long-forgotten protective means can successfully keep the pirates away and also help get rid of the need to connect to the Internet for launching the game.
The Sims 3 is scheduled for June 2009 (PC version) and several mobile platforms.
