Ubisoft forewent StarForce
16th April 2006
Ubisoft declared about the refusal of use StarForce for the protection of its games from illegal copying. Simulator Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, that left on 15 March, became last project with this of technologies; following large reliz (Heroes of Might & Magic 5) will use SecuROM 7 - the competing protection, created with one of the subdivisions Sony. Not last role in making of this decision played the noisy campaign against StarForce, played on the canons "black piara" (number of the statements of "authoritative experts" it were read as genuine "horror stories" for the "teapots"), acting colleagues themselves StarForce Technologies (during March one of the administrators of the site of company it published reference to torrent of game Galactic Civilizations 2 in order to prove the need for protection) and the 5- millionth collective action to Ubisoft from the users, that assert, as if SF left their computers helpless before face of viruses, troyanov and khakerskikh attacks. And although documentary proofs of the latter thus far are not found, publisher decided to get rid from the future headache even to the beginning of the open process.
