Wi-Fi forces out cell communication

Because of rise of new technologies, it`s time for mobile operators to think about possible problems in the near future. According to RIA News, at the end of 2006 there were about 2400 million mobile users, nearly 1942 million of which are using GSM standart. 154 million SIM-cards were sold. This may lead to a sudden change of actions on the part of operators, which will basically change the conduct structure on the market of wireless communication. The development of new concepts will be gradually spotlighted which, in its turn, will increase the costs and will complicate their lives seriously. Besides, the growing number of companies is appearing at the market of mobile services which are able to rival well enough. They have to make much effort in order to retain their users. According to experts, Wi-Fi and IP-telephony can have the most destroying impact on the monopoly of mobile communication of cellular companies. By 2010, the United States will have over 65 thousand public Wi-Fi hot-spots. Such technologies as Wi-Fi and WiMAX are very quickly taking roots around the world.
