Wiimote was adapted for smartphones on the platform S60
5th April 2008
Austrian students Alexander Erifiu andMario Grammer gave up their previous projects of WiiConnect and WiiRider and created a new application called mobiPad.
It is based on an excellent guess - it turns out that a wireless joystick Wiimote transmits data through the channel of Bluetooth!
The package mobiPad is a special application for Symbian OS. After installing the package to a smartphone, it connects to the Wiimote joystick and decodes the signal incoming from it.
Finally, it turns out possible to use Wiimote in games and other programs operating under Nokia S60 platform! Another regular wireless item of Nintendo Wii, “nun-chuck”, is not supported so far, but the developers promise to work it out.
