Adobe Flash for TV
12th May 2009
Adobe has released a special version of their product Flash for TV, receivers and laser disc players. The product is planned to go on sale before the end of 2009.
The special version of Flash is designed for use in consumer electronics with the ability to connect to the Internet. It can be used in TV, digital TV receivers, players, including Blu-ray ones and some other devices. Thanks to Flash, they will be able to receive and display video in the format of FLV, broadcasted via the Internet, without any restrictions. The product also must support High Definition.
According to the vice-president of Adobe, David Wadhwani, the main purpose of the product is to facilitate access to multimedia data. Earlier users watched video in Flash only on their computers, but now the adapted platform for household devices allows to do it directly on the TV screen, without connecting additional devices.
The technology has already been realized in mobile phones. According to Adobe, the Flash technology is available at approximately 40% of mobile phones sold last year.
