Borland reduces the staff

Company Borland Software declared about the intention to reduce the staff approximately by 20 percent. Soon approximately 300 of 1400 workers of company will be fired. Reduction will become the part of the program on the restructuring, which will make it possible Borland to focus primary attention in the priority markets for the United States, Europe and Asia. Besides a reduction in the number of colleagues,there are noted other changes. In particular, in Borland was assigned a new Vice President on region EMEA (Europe, the Near East Africa). This post engaged Paul Taylor, and the development of business in France, Germany and Great Britain will become his basic task. Furthermore, Borland reexamined the functions of some of it's subdivisions. Restructuring and reduction of stuff will allow company to economize up to 60 million US dollars per year. About three months ago became known that Borland was intended to forego further works on the improvement of the integrated development environment, in particular, Dephi and C++. It is connected with the fact that the subdivision, which is occupied by the appropriate products, in the third quarter of past year brought only seven percent of the aggregate profit of company. Soon all efforts of Borland will be concentrated on the development of strategy of control of the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
