Development of Prince of Persia Classic for Xbox 360 officially confirmed
24th May 2007
The publishing house of Ubisoft has confirmed the development of a game Prince of Persia Classic for Xbox 360, which is a remake of the original Prince of Persia and will appear on the service Live Arcade in the early summer of this year. It should be recalled that the original Prince of Persia was released in 1989 by Broderbund Software for the Apple II platform. Later, the game was ported to other platforms including Amiga, Apple Macintosh, PC (DOS), NES, Game Boy, Game Gear, SNES and Sega Genesis. The game is a 2D platformer combining jumping and running on storey with fighting with swords. The developers promise that the basic elements of the game (levels design, battles with the sword, time restrictions for going through the level) will be also presented in Prince of Persia Classic as well as in the original. At the same time, mass of innovations is expected, most of which affect graphical component. The game will include new puzzles, and the types of traps characters. The game is being developed by the studio Gameloft, which specializes in games for mobile devices. Prince of Persia Classic will be the first game of this studio for Xbox 360 platform, but it is not the first time when the developers deal with the brand Prince of Persia itself - in 2003, for instance, Gameloft has released a game Prince of Persia Harem Adventures for mobile phones. Prince of Persia Classic has already been rated as “T”(for teenagers), but the cost of the game has not yet been approved, reports GameSpot.
