Facebook will contain virtual rooms
4th May 2008
The company Vivaty from a small Californian town conceived to create a hybrid of the traditional social network and online virtual universe. Instead of the average e-mailing, posting photos and personal information, familiar to any member of Facebook and MySpace, users of the service Vivaty will have access to the virtual rooms in which, actually, the communicating with other members of the network will happen.
Communication will be performed by means of virtual avatars, like in the universe Second Life or in any online multiplayer game. In addition, each user will have its own virtual room, which will serve as a traditional analogue to profile pages with personal data. Users will be able to decorate rooms to their taste, invite friends to communicate (one room can accommodate up to 15 characters) and watch clips from YouTube with the help of a virtual TV, reports New Scientist.
This network has being been developed in Vivaty for more than three years so far, with the financial support by investment firms Kleiner, Perkins Caufield & Byers and Mohr Davidow Ventures. The users of Facebook will be the first to get access to the network Vivaty.
