Fedora 9: preliminary version

Participants of the Fedora project released a preliminary version of the operating system Fedora 9.
The software platform of Fedora 9 currently uses the core of Linux 2.6.24. However, by the time of releasing the final version of the operating system it will include recently submitted core of Linux 2.6.25. This version of the core, among other things, improves means of virtualization, support of wireless Wi-Fi, adds new drivers, enhances security and improves memory management tools.
As for the operating system Fedora 9, the developers made changes to hyper-visor Xen, added support of encrypted file systems, improved support of Bluetooth and means of authentication by fingerprints. Fedora 9 includes beta-version of Firefox 3, desktop manager KDE 4.0, OpenOffice 2.4, etc…
Initially, Fedora 9 was planned to be released In April. However, the platform development has been slightly delayed, and now the release date is postponed till May, 13.
