Gore Verbinski will film BioShock
27th May 2008
One of the best games of last year, the shooter BioShock, called by many profile publishers “the game of the year”, will soon receive its embodiment on large screens. The film based on the game will be directed by the author of the famous trilogy “Pirates of the Caribbean” Gore Verbinski, and the script will be written by John Logan, who worked on “Aviator”, reports Variety.com.
According Verbinski ( a great fan of computer games, by the way), from all games he ever played, BioShock has the greatest cinematic potential.
Verbinski points out that we should not expect the epic scope of “Pirates of the Caribbean”, as the game plot is more “chamber”.
The director is prepared to face the fact that the film could be ranged as “R” (Restricted, people over 18 y.o.) because the original storyline of the game is also not meant for young audiences (BioShock has been given the rating “M” (players over 17 y.o.).
As for one of the main characters of BioShock, Big Daddy, according to Verbinski, he will not be fully established with the help of computer special effects: director also plans to use live actors to shoot the characters.
