The participants of hacker contest PWN2OWN couldn`t crack iPhone, Blackberry, and also smart phones under Symbian, Windows Mobile and Android platforms, Computerworld reports. For every smartphone hacking contest organizers promised to pay ten thousand dollars. Partly hacking attempts of smartphones ended in failure because of the relatively weak technical performance of these devices compared to computers. This prevented the hackers using the usual methods of cracking. Despite the failure with smartphones, the participants of PWN2OWN managed to crack Internet Explorer 8.0, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari browsers. For cracking of each hacker received five thousand dollars. Hacking of Safari browser took the specialist on computer security Charlie Miller ten seconds. As a result, he got a control of the laptop, in which this browser operated. German hacker has cracked Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (probably release candidate) for five minutes. Then he cracked Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox. In fine, this German student has got 15 thousand dollars and a laptop.
