IBM “spied” new technology of processors production upon wild nature
12th May 2007
The IBM Company proposed a new method of producing a new generation of chips, based on advanced nanotechnologies. The new technology involves the use of vacuum for wires insulation connecting elements of microchip. However, the unique of the design is that for creation of filled with the vacuum cavities the method of “self-assembling” is used, taken from wild nature. Microscopic holes are formed themselves on a silicon plate covered with a special chemical composition and subjected to heat. Similarly, shells are formed in wild nature. Processors, produced this way demonstrate 35% productivity growth, at the same time reducing energy consumption by 15%.
