Microsoft announces new version of Community Technology Preview Microsoft Corporation has announced another version of Community Technology Preview (CTP), a new environment to develop applications for robotic platforms Robotics Developer Studio 2008.
The first version of Robotics Studio came out in 2006. This specialized package allows users to develop programs for a wide variety of hardware platforms. Robotics Studio contains visual programming tools, as well as three-dimensional virtual environment with the physical engine to simulate the work of robots.
Major changes in the new version of the package, compared with previous modifications, aim at improving performance and simplifying the development process. Programming tools also were subjected to further improvements - in particular, visual Wednesday Visual Simulation Environment (VSE). In addition, security tools were improved.
Microsoft points out, that with the release of the new version, the name of the product will change a little. Now the package will be referred to as Robotics Developer Studio, instead of the old name Robotics Studio.
According to Microsoft, such change must better reflect the fact that the product is aimed at development of applications.
