New superCAPTCHA won`t miss robots
21st May 2008
Specialists from the University of Pennsylvania created a test that can distinguish the man from the robot and performs it better than a conventional CAPTCHA test. The work of Imagination can be tested by anyone at www.alipr.com.
The test, broken into two phases, first recommends clicking with the mouse at the centre of one of the images that appear on the screen. Then, if a user managed to cope with the challenge, the program shows a user some animal, human being or other object in the photo and asks him to choose the most appropriate word from given ones. The specialists believe that the Artificial Intelligence is not yet capable of coping with such tasks.
Given that spam-bots can crack CAPTCHA on known mail servers, including Google Mail and Yahoo!, this is the best option to protect against robots in the world so far.
