Nintendo of America will pay East Texas $21 million

The court obligated the company Nintendo of America to pay to the small East Texas company 21 million dollars for patent infringement. Such a penalty was decerned as a result of considering the clime filed by Anascape in 2006, reports Associated Press.
A Nintendo representative said that the company intends to appeal against the court verdict and expects that the court will â€œsubstantiallyâ€ reduce the amount of compensation.
In the course of litigation, it became clear that Nintendo had violated the Anascape patent during the development of controllers Wii Classic, WaveBird and Gamecube. At the same time, the jury did not find patent violations related to the use of technology of recognizing movements in the Wii and Nuncheck controllers.
The Anascape lawyers refused to comment on the court decree. It is known that Anascape accused Microsoft of violating patents for game controllers, however, they came to the compromise with the software giant shortly before the court began considering the suit against Nintendo.
