Slackware Linux: new version of the OS

The community of developers Slackware Linux announced the release of version 12.1 of their operating system.
Slackware is one of the oldest distributions of GNU/Linux - the first version of this software platform came out in July 1993. In developing Slackware Linux, the programmers focus on ensuring stability, security, as well as the simplicity of installation and administration.
Slackware Linux 12.1 is built on the Linux 2.6.24.5 core. The distribution kit includes desktop managers Xfce 4.4.2 and KDE 3.5.9, web server Apache 2.2.8, email client Thunderbird 2.0.0.12, browsers Konqueror 3.5.9 and Firefox 2.0.0.14, as well as a set of office applications KOffice. In addition, the platform Slackware Linux 12.1 will include tools for developers (including Perl 5.8.8, Python 2.5.2, Ruby 1.8.6-p114 and Subversion 1.4.6) and the compilers C, C + +, Objective-C, Fortran - 77/95 and Ada 95.
The developers added the operating system Slackware Linux 12.1 with a layer of abstraction HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer), improved support of interfaces for data storing devices and provided support of fully encrypted network connections (OpenSSL, OpenSSH, OpenVPN, GnuPG). In addition, the programmers have increased the overall performance of the OS, eliminated errors, expanded database of drivers and equipment etc.
The platform of Slackware Linux 12.1 is positioned as a stable version and is recommended for installation to all users of the previous versions of the operating system.
