Symantec took a legal action against Microsoft

Company Symantec called for the justice against Microsoft, after accusing corporation of the disturbance of license agreement with firm Veritas Software, which Symantec absorbed in the past year. They assert in Symantec that Microsoft illegally uses in the new operating system for personal computers Windows Vista with technologies of Veritas Software, connected with the storage of the large volumes of data. These technologies are realized in the Volume Manager product, which Symantec acquired together with purchase of Veritas Software. In this case Symantec management emphasizes that on agreement conditions with Veritas Software, corporation Microsoft could use primary procedures of interaction with the data only in the products of Windows NT family. However subsequently technology allegedly was illegally moved into Windows XP, Windows server 2003, and now - in Windows Vista and server modification of this operating system under the code name Longhorn. Moreover,it was asserted that Microsoft even attempted to obtain a number of patents for the technologies, based on the intellectual property of Symantec. As reports Reuters, Symantec at present requires law court to put prohibition on the use of technologies Veritas Software by corporation Microsoft and to bind responders to pay off the compensation, which volume is not refined. In Microsoft, in turn, they are not agreeable a with claims of Symantec and intended to defend its own rights in the law court. It is not thus far clear how will end the conflict between Microsoft and Symantec; however, judicial lawsuit can lead to the sequential shift of the date of presentation of Windows vista.Microsoft corporation expects to release Windows Vista version for the domestic users in the beginning of the following year, and corporate versions of OS - at the end of the present year.
