Three-dimensional model of the head out of photographs
20th May 2008
The free application Looxis Faceworx is an excellent tool by means of which any interested person will be able to create three-dimensional model of the human head, using as a texture ordinary “flat” photos.
To get started, you only need a pair of pictures showing the face fairly well (in full face and profile). For obtaining better results, most operations related to turning a snapshot into a three-dimensional model are performed manually. The finished model can be viewed in one of three available modes “Orthogonal”, “Perspective” or “Wireframe”. To obtain more realistic image you can apply lighting effect.
The results of working with the program could be saved in the form of .OBJ files for further use in other means of 3D-modelling (such as Sketchup or Blender). The developers assure that users can master the functional capabilities for the program by just viewing a five-minute video guide.
