Users of MS Office 2007 SP2 will be able to save files to ODF
31st May 2008
The next package of updates for MS Office 2007 will expand support of ODF and PDF. After installing Service Pack 2, which will presumably appear in the first half of 2009, users will be able to choose the format of ODF as the format in which by default they will save documents, spreadsheets and presentations. In addition, users will be able to select the formats of PDF and XPS for saving by default. By the way, XPS is an analogue to PDF designed by Microsoft.
Currently, ODF and PDF are supported in MS Office 2007 by means of addons. The program has no possibilities for direct opening ODF files and their saving, so, you should work a special converter to work with them.
