Windows Vista and MS Office 2007 updated
20th May 2009
Microsoft announced releasing the final version of Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista. The service pack includes all updates released after SP1 and till now, and also some new drivers.
Despite the fact that the main users hopes for errors correction and removing vulnerabilities are in charge of service packs, Microsoft is driving at moving aside from releasing large packs. Instead, the giant would rather release updates as errors occur. SP2 for Windows Vista includes a search application of Windows Search 4.0, support of Bluetooth 2.1, functionality of Windows Connect Now, and the possibility of burning Blu-ray discs without involving any additional software. Besides, Microsoft developers improved compatibility with third-party apps, added support of 64-bit processors from Via Technologies.
Along with SP2 for Windows Vista Microsoft released the second service pack for Microsoft Office 2007. This pack adds to Microsoft Office compatibility ODF open format, promoted by ODF Alliance. In addition to ODF, SP2 adds support of Open XML and Adobe PDF. The package also includes an external converter that allows you to convert Open XML into the format familiar to the office suite. In addition, they improved security and enhanced performance of SharePoint Server 2007.
