Acrobat 3D 8.0 : PDF files with 3D models
5th June 2007
Adobe has announced the eighth version of Acrobat 3D 8, a tool for implementing 3D-models into PDF documents. The eighth version offers a lot of innovations, in particular, optimization of models for sending them through e-mail (they say, CAD-file of 150 MB can be turned into PDF with the size of 1 MB), adding such information as size, annotations, developer information.
Much attention is paid to the protection of copyright - models, viewed in Acrobat Reader will show no details, in the form of mosaic. But at the will of models creators some persons can be shown detailed versions as well. However, the extraction from Acrobat Reader will be unavailable.
The new version of Acrobat 3D will help in solving the problem of the incompatibility of formats that are used by different companies, as it can export CAD-files into commonly used formats such as STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data). Through the program more than 40 formats can be converted into 3D PDF.
