Autodesk DragonFly: interior design in web browser window
18th June 2009
The Company Autodesk, the famous manufacturer of CAD solutions, professional software for architects and toolsets for three-dimensional drawings, announced a very curious product. The solution is aimed at the consumer market and called Annex DragonFly.
Annex DragonFly is a set of tools for architectural planning interior design, which runs directly in a standard Web browser window. With this product users will be able to organize redevelopment or visualized the future look of their home after moving around the furniture.
The app is based on the Adobe Flex technology and can produce visually attractive three-dimensional plans in minutes. The whole process of creating the plan is divided into three simple steps:
Step one: drawing up a detailed 2D plan of the room;
Step Two: after completing work on the plan, the user can click on View in 3D to see his own drawing in the isometric projection. Despite professional architects and designers are eager to pay a lot of money for this service, users of DragonFly can use this tool for free;
Step three: your work results can be exported to a universal format of DWG (supported by most packages for architectural modeling), or RVT (can open projects created in the app of Revit). Users can also print three-dimensional or a «flat» drawings, indicating the exact size of each object at the drawing.
However, each program ought to have its flaws. Thus, DragonFly has no feature of 1st person “roaming” the room and watching objects.
