Creators of Duke Nukem Forever deny disclaim closing 3D Realms
12th June 2009
Authorities of 3D Realms has rejected all rumors on closure the studio, reports GameSpot. He admitted that the team responsible for developing the shooter Duke Nukem Forever, was dismissed on May, 6 this year due to lack of funding. At the same time George Broussard, an executive director of the company, pointed out that currently the company is going on working. He also said that 3D Realms still owns rights to develop games in the series of Duke Nukem.
Broussard also disproved information that the publishing house of Take-Two Interactive bought out rights for Duke Nukem Forever for $12 million. Only in July 2008 the two companies entered into a new agreement under which Take-Two gave to the studio $2.5 million for developing the game. We`d like to point out that the other day Take-Two filed an action against 3D Realms, accusing the latter of not fulfilling their contractual obligations.
Broussard added that at the moment, 3D Realms alone spent more than $ 20 million to create DNF.
Officially, the game was announced 12 years ago in 1997. So, it is a very-very long story, and so far we do not see an end of it…
