Eidos already earns money on games not even released

The company Eidos has been recently reported to be working on Deus Ex 3, a queer mixture of shooter and RPG. After that rumour had it, that the same company is now developing Thief 4, a new game in the famous series.
It turned out that Eidos Montreal has been selling in its online store a lot of different things with symbols of these games. Here you can find posters, caps, bags with logos of Deus Ex 3. The average price of these trifles is $20-30.
As for release date of Deus Ex3 or Thief 4, neither of them is known.
