New technology from Apollo Adobe was renamed into AIR

Adobe has released a public beta version of AIR technology, which should take place between the Internet and PCâ€™s desktop. Earlier, AIR has been known as Apollo. It reminds of Adobe Flash, a technology due to which users of MySpace and YouTube can watch the video online in real time. However, unlike Flash, applications written on the basis of AIR, will not require a browser and will be able to work directly on the desktop. For example, Multimedia Player, based on AIR, can work with files from the hard disk, but at the same time displays photos of a musician, downloaded from the site Flickr.
Another advantage of AIR programs is using them with of without being connected to the Internet. The application itself determines whether there is a connection to the Internet, and behaves accordingly. Beta version of AIR includes implemented database (SQLite), support of PDF documents, enhancement for Javascript, a tool for publishing projects Dreamweaver and integration with Flex.
