Online Google applications can work without Internet

Google Company has introduced a new technology that allows web-applications to continue their work even if the link to the internet was interrupted. Google Gears expansion for browser downloads to the computer enough data in order if the link would be lost the work in the browser with such services as mail, calendar, text editor would be not interrupted.
Google Gears is an application with open code, i.e., any developer can modify and supplement it to his needs. Analysts have already noted that Google Gears is another blow to Microsoft, because if the earlier services from Google could work only if there is the link with the Internet, and now they can be considered as direct competitors to offline-applications.
