Red Hat released Fedora 7
15th June 2007
At the end of last week, Red Hat has released the seventh version of the free operating system Fedora, built on the basis of Linux and is a result of work both of programmers of Red Hat, and ordinary users. The point is that Fedora combines in itself both the official version of Core and Extras-version of Fedora, developed and supported by enthusiasts of Linux environment. Fedora 7 is available for download and installation absolutely for free. The only disadvantage is the lack of formal support of Red Hat, which is presented in Red Hat Enterprise Linux. By the way, it is Fedora, which is partially used by Red Hat to test the new features, which are ultimately added to RHEL. Currently, the only competitor of Fedora is the OpenSuse system, developed by Novell. Among the new features of Fedora is KVM virtualization tool that allows the simultaneous use of several systems. KVM is an alternative to application Xen, built in the modern versions of RHEL and Novell Suse Linux Enterprise Server. Among other innovations there are interfaces Gnome 2.18 and KDE 3.5.6, in the aggregate creating a comfortable and productive workspace. In spite of the fact that Fedora 7 has been just released, Red Hat has already announced the intention to release on 31 October the eighth version of the system.
