Remedy introduces Alan Wake
20th June 2009
Remedy Studios removed the cover of secrecy from its long-expected thriller of Alan Wake. For many years everything we could know about the game has been presented only in the form of obscure trailers and screenshots. Thus, it is a pleasure to learn fresh news from some lucky journalists who had a chance to play the demo.
The demonstration begins with Alan Wake`s telling about the missing pages of his mysterious manuscript. The conversation is held by a strange literary agent named Barry. Then we see how the main character can interact with other characters through the surrounding reality.
The very action is set in the town of Bright Falls, where Alan finds that his wife is missing. Soon he finds out that his own book, which he has been writing in this town, magically becomes a reality. The whole surrounding world is gradually sinking into the darkness. Local residents turn into killers hunting for Alan. He searches for the missing pages in the hope that they will help him to return his wife.
The whole gameplay is built on the opposition of light and darkness. Remedy took an interesting way to solve this problem. The light is used to fight enemies. Using the flashlight, you keep your opponents back off. The game itself is perfectly linear.
The release is scheduled for spring 2010. Looking forward!
