Sega develops more games based on Unreal Engine 3
9th June 2008
The Japanese company Sega intends to release from the Epic Games studio another game based on Unreal Engine 3, reports GameSpot.
It should be recalled that in May last year Sega, after Square Enix and Capcom, licensed the newest engine Unreal Engine 3, planning to base on it a few games being developed in North America. What exact “American” games will be based on Unreal Engine 3 is still unknown. Currently in the United States the studio Obsidian is developing a role-play game Alpha Protocol; the company Gearbox Software is elaborating the shooter based on the movie “Alien”; and the studio Silicon Knights is working on some unknown game.
Unreal Engine 3 invariably causes increased attention of both professionals and ordinary players. During the conference of Game Developers Conference 2008, held earlier this year, Epic Games collected the largest number of visitors when demonstrating a technical demo version of the updated Unreal Engine 3. The latter become the basis of such games as Gears of War, Unreal Tournament III, Mass Effect and Hour of Victory.
