Steve Jobs gave details about iPhone 2.0
27th June 2008
Steve Jobs, an executive director of Apple, began his speech at the World Developers Conference in San Francisco with a story about the new iPhone, SDK release and new features of the phone. According to Jobs, since the release of SDK for 95 days this toolkit has been downloaded about 250 thousand times. In iPhone 2.0 beta-testing 25 thousand people were willing to take part, but Apple approved only 4 thousand candidacies out of them. Jobs remained quite satisfied with the response of the developers: “We saw fairly remarkable applications from the developers and think that users will love the depth and breadth of applications available at App Store”.
After Jobs` speech developers could demonstrate their programs for Apple`s phone, among them being applications from Sega and eBay.
Firmware 2.0 will support formats iWork and Microsoft Office, saving images from e-mail, calculator, parental control functions and expanded language support. The final version will be released in early July.
The firmware will be available for free to iPhone owners and will cost $ 9.95 for iPod touch users.
