29th June 2008
Microsoft Corporation has released a final version of their long-awaited toolset Open XML SDK 1.0.
This product will enable developers to expand the functionality of their applications by supporting the format Open XML. The new Open XML format was first introduced in the package Microsoft Office 2007. Currently, the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is considering the possibility of giving this format the status of the industry standard.
Program interface, included in the package, will enable to equip created products with suitable search mechanisms and to create Open XML files, as well as to realize the feasibility of manipulating documents in this format.
The proposed API-interface may be used when writing code in any language supported by Microsoft .Net Framework.
The release of Open XML SDK 2.0 will be held simultaneously with the release of the new version of the Office package (known as code-named Office 14).
