O2, the phone network of UK has decided to scrap unlimited data downloads for its each and every customer of smartphone. Depending upon the customers' monthly tariff plans, all the new users are going to have the usage, which will be capped between 500MB and 1GB. The analysts have said that the move, which is taken by the company, was unavoidable and inevitable, as more and more users have started to surf the web services in watch videos over their smartphones.
They have also added that other networks would also follow the decision, which is taken by O2. The principle analyst at Informa Telecoms and Media, Thomas Wehmeier has said that O2 has become the leader in this field. According to a spokesperson of O2, only 3% of the users of O2 are going to be affected by this step, who will be supposed to pay extra charges, in order to avail the facility of data usage.
According to the firm, if this plan hits the right spot, then all the customers would get a chance of availing better services. Right now, the expenditure of the firm, in order to meet the requirements of providing the users with a facility of downloading data on their smartphones, is £1m. However, the firm would reap fruitful results with the help of this investment.
