Adobe Digital Editions have come out of beta

Adobe Systems Company has introduced a new software product designed for creating and reading books in electronic format eBooks- Adobe Digital Editions 1.0.
Numerous user requests, which were received during the testing (beta-version of Adobe Digital Editions was downloaded more than 300,000 times), had a significant impact on the functionality implemented in the commercial release. The new solution from Adobe allows you to read electronic publications of various types, including documents in PDF and XML formats, books in eBooks format, newspapers, etc., to combine them in libraries, to group them by categories, to create bookmarks, to add comments to the viewed text. And the capability of direct import of files from InDesign CS3, provides an excellent opportunity to create a dynamic content and control the appearance of organizing electronic materials. Adobe Digital Editions is fully compatible with Adobe Acrobat 8 and Adobe Reader 8 and can be started directly from the user interface of these applications.
Besides, in Adobe Digital Editions you can create ready for publishing documents in XML format for more than 150,000 commercial publications. Interface of the program provides excellent opportunities for viewing electronic materials, including automatic adjustment of the document scale, depending on the display definition.
Adobe Digital Editions is developed by using Flex technology, due to which you can add to electronic publications audio and video materials without much work. High-quality mechanisms of copyright protection, implemented in Adobe Digital Editions, use innovative Adobe Digital Editions Protection Service, and provide a wide range of business models that can be used for the distribution of informative content. Adobe Digital Editions is distributed for free, now versions are available for Microsoft Windows (Windows Vista, Windows XP with SP2 or Windows 2000 with SP4), and Mac OS X versions 10.3.9 (or later versions). Version for Linux will appear in the second half of this year, besides, they are planning to release a version for mobile platforms.
