16th July 2007
While Adobe was eliminating the vulnerability in Flash Player, Apple decided to work on the security of its multimedia player QuickTime, and released an updated version of QuickTime 7.2, in which together with the introduction of new features eight critical errors have been fixed. Four of them could be used by attackers through clipboard overflow when viewing video or malicious file. Three vulnerabilities could be potentially used by malicious Java applets placed on Web pages. Last error leads to the disclosure of confidential information. The update is available for users of Mac OS X 10.3.9 and above, as well as Windows XP SP2 and Vista.
Together with the update of QuickTime, a new version of iTunes has come out. In the description of iTunes 7.3.1 it is said that this version fixes some problems with access to iTunes Library. Apple also reminds of the possibility of activation service iPhone by means of iTunes and synchronizing your content with it. It seems that the new version of iTunes does not solve problems of incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Vista, due to which work of multifunctional communicator iPhone with these systems becomes impossible.
