Mozilla postpones release of Firefox 3.0
16th July 2007
The community Mozilla.org has changed the schedule of releasing test versions Firefox 3.0.
The first alpha version of Firefox 3.0, known under the code name Gran Paradiso, came out in December last year. About a week ago, the community Mozilla.org released sixth alfa-modification of the browser. At the same time, further schedule of development was published according to which the first beta-version of Firefox 3.0 is to come out on July, 31. The second beta release is scheduled for September. The developers hope to submit the final version of the browser before the end of the year.
However the last weekend Vice President of Mozilla proposed to make some changes to the schedule of intermediate releases of Firefox 3.0. According to the updated plan, the first beta-modification of the browser is going to appear mo earlier than September, 18. However, the date of Firefox 3.0 Beta 2, as well as the date of presentation of the final version of the browser have not been reported by Mozilla yet.
These delays are caused by the problems occurring in the process of developing. Moreover all previously planned features and innovations have not yet been implemented in the version. Developers, in particular, yet have to built protection against malicious software, and implement support for offline web applications. So it is possible that the development of Firefox 3.0 will be delayed till next year.
