Users of Virtual Earth will be able to add maps with 3D-models

Microsoft Corporation has entered into an agreement with the French company Dassault Systemes, due to which Microsoft will be able expand the functionality of its applications Virtual Earth. Users of the service will be able to upload their own 3D-models of buildings and see them on maps, as it is implemented in Google Earth. Users can share 3D models, using new resource 3DVIA. Introducing the new service, the head of Dassault Systemes has said that “3D should be used by everyone for a various purposes” and has stressed that the company wants to create something like a 3D version of the popular photo-sharing service Flickr. The service will be free to users and will be supported by advertising and investments, which would make partner companies.
