4th August 2010
The flaw in the handling of shortcut by Windows is going to be fixed very soon, as Microsoft has issued a security update of critical nature. The attackers used to get a chance of crafting booby trapped shortcuts, which used to help them in taking over specific computer systems. Shortcuts of all those websites, which the users often visit, are normally settled up by them.
The firm has said that it has immediately issued this critical patch because it was found that the bug was causing vulnerable attacks. This fix is going to be sent to all those machines, which are automatically updated and it will also be available on the website of Microsoft Update. In the month of July, this flaw was found. It was found that the commands used to be embedded by the hackers, in all those shortcuts, which are clicked by the users, in order to view web pages.
It was discovered that this flaw was vulnerable for each and every version of Windows. Initially, this flaw entered computers, through infected USB drives. Later on, the bug was publicized and then it started to spread serious problems.
