A poll was taken from the small and medium sized businesses on the subject in the month of January in 2008 and when the survey was revisited during the month of May then it was found that there had been some of the improvements. In the year 2008, 23 percent of the businesses were able to get the mission critical apps back up in a time of four hours or even less. Currently, it has gone up to 33 percent which is based on the survey of almost 400 of the technology professionals of the businesses who are from the companies having 1,000 or lesser employees.
Some of the other key changes include: During the year 2010, 62 percent of the businesses have continuity or the disaster recovery systems in place as compared to the percentage of 55 % in the year 2008. The consolidation has increased greatly today and 52 percent of them are totally centralized with one main headquarter and no branch sites as compared to the 44 percent which was back in year 2008. The usage of the online backup services also posted the single biggest gain of all and is 10 points up.
