The team of European scientists is working on creation of a single network infrastructure that will allow an opportunity of centralized control over household electronic devices. The innovation will help to control work of not only multimedia devices, but also any other home electronics (microwave ovens, washing machines, dryers, etc.).
Perhaps, the scientists finally will able to realize cherished dream of modern bachelors about hot meals warmed by a caring oven to their coming back home.
ESTIA team managed to fully cope with modern security requirements. Managing network devices is carried out through a single,
simple in the development and exploitation interface. In addition, the system can identify
each user and determine the level of his authority. For example, a “home alone” child will not be able to use dangerous kitchen stove
or have access to “adult” channels of cable television.
The system can automatically detect any new
equipment, and to administer the network you can use most different devices, which can be found in any home (TV, wireless phones or personal computers).
The heart of home network will be special software as well as equipment under the name of Home Media Gateway, working
under the operating system Windows Vista.
