Firefox 3 will be safer
17th August 2007
The next update for the third version of Firefox will contain many important innovations that relate to security and therefore would not be very visible to testers of the program. This information was reported by the head of Mozilla security department.
In particular, a tool is planned to be implemented that would automatically block sites suspected of distributing malicious codes. The blocker is based on blacklist of sites, created by Google.
The browser will also offer advanced features of checking certificates Secure Sockets Layer (SSL EV). These certificates are used at sites of many banks, financial institutions and stores. One of the first sites, which started to use them, was PayPal. After implementing this feature, Firefox users will be able to see a special indicator, which will show that the site uses this type of protection.
